In August, Amanda Koehler ’27 was awarded a scholarship from New York Dance Spectrum, Inc., which is under the direction of E. Laura Hausmann, dancer, teacher, and choreographer.
The scholarship provides for the completion of the Certificate Program of the Dance Education Training Course of the National Dance Council of America and the American Society of Teachers of Dancing, the most respected dance education course in the country.
Koehler studies dance techniques and pedagogy in classical ballet, modern (Horton), jazz, musical theatre, and tap, in addition to rehearsal and performance and injury prevention. Her excellent exam scores in all disciplines qualify her to receive this honor.
New York Dance Spectrum, Inc., a nonprofit founded in 1988, continues to serve students in the Lehigh Valley with education, scholarships, mentorships, and employment, all within the realm of dance. Some past recipients received mentoring that placed them in professional dance companies in New York City, Off-Broadway shows, regional companies, dance education intensives, and college dance degree programs.
