On Sunday, March 22, Moravian University’s Tri-Alpha chapter inducted 85 students and two faculty members—the second largest group welcomed into The National Honor Society for First-Generation College Students.

The largest group—104 students, faculty, and staff—was honored during the inaugural induction in 2018, said Carol Traupman-Carr, herself a first-generation student, now Moravian’s vice president for institutional effectiveness and dean for academic operations.

She started Alpha Alpha Alpha on March 24, 2018, at what was then Moravian College.  Tri-Alpha recognizes academic excellence of first-generation college students and has since expanded to include more than 340 chapters across the United States. The National Headquarters are still located at Moravian’s Main Street campus in Bethlehem.
