Over the past year, Jane Berger, associate professor of history and member of the Labor and Working Class History Association (LAWCHA), served as the association’s representative on the committee that awards the Organization of American Historians’ David Montgomery Prize in Labor History. Earlier this year, Berger was elected by her colleagues to the executive board of LAWCHA, a position she will hold until March of 2027.
Her responsibilities will include, along with the rest of the board members, overseeing the association’s finances, examining and approving the budget, acting as a liaison to the membership, and generally promoting the mission of the organization.
“Being elected to the LAWCHA board is quite an honor for any scholar who studies labor and working-class history,” says Joseph A. McCartin, president of LAWCHA and professor of history at Georgetown University. “Jane’s election is a sign of the high esteem in which her colleagues in the field hold her. Not only has she written a terrific and impactful book, which has elevated her visibility and standing in the field, she has established a reputation for collegiality, efficiency, and effectiveness as an active LAWCHA member. We are thrilled to have Jane on our leadership team.”
Congratulations, Jane!
