An intergenerational workshop series is bringing together Moravian University students and third graders from William Penn Elementary School to explore storytelling, artmaking, and creative collaboration.
The Art and Child Development class is being led by MaryJo Rosania Harvie, assistant professor of art and director of art education at Moravian University, and her students.
On Monday, March 2, Moravian University students guided the third graders through developing story ideas that the young students will eventually act out with puppets they create. It was the second of three in-person visits between the university students and William Penn students.
Through hands-on activities such as character development, puppet-making, and shared creative play, students build confidence, imagination, and they connect across age groups.
