Bethlehem, PA — July 1, 2025 — Today, Moravian University announced it has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the Governor’s Office and the Pennsylvania Department of Education as part of the 2024–2025 It’s On Us PA initiative. This grant has already begun to bolster the university’s ongoing efforts to support an array of campus-wide efforts focused on awareness and prevention, reporting, and response to sexual violence.

The It’s On Us PA campaign, inspired by the national movement launched by the Obama Administration, aims to raise awareness about sexual assault, educate communities on recognizing and preventing it, and empower individuals to take action. Moravian University is among 44 institutions in Pennsylvania to receive this funding, which collectively totals over $1.6 million.

“This grant reinforces our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members of the Moravian community,” said Leah M. Naso, dean for compliance, training & development at Moravian University. “We are dedicated to implementing comprehensive strategies that address prevention, education, and response to sexual violence.”

The funding will support a range of initiatives, including:

  • Enhanced Educational Programs: Developing and expanding workshops and seminars focused on consent, bystander intervention, and healthy relationships.
  • Training for Faculty and Staff: Providing specialized training to equip university personnel with additional tools to support survivors and respond to reports of sexual misconduct more effectively.
  • Student-Led Initiatives: Empowering student organizations to lead awareness campaigns and peer-education programs that promote a culture of respect and accountability.

As part of this grant, Moravian University’s Equal Opportunity and Title IX Office, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Peers and Wellness (PAW), and the Gender Equity Club will develop and implement sexual violence outreach initiatives in coordination with various departments, student groups, and local rape crisis centers who comprise the institution’s Sexual Violence Prevention Committee.
